As the facebook event page reads:
... Any serious festival goer has undoubtedly been exposed to and amazed by Darvin's deep rolling beats that he masterfully sculpts for every performance. Having played Shambhala, Motion Notion and Burning Man numerous times as well as countless other festivals this man's sets have been described as nothing less than hypnotically mesmorizing and completely unforgettable.
For over a decade now Darvin has been helping shape Canada and North America's music scene in the role of DJ, producer (as one part of Sons of Aurora) and party organizer/promoter for his most recent project - Calgary based Area 709. He's graced the stage with countless international acts such as Infected Mushroom, Wizzy Noise, Eskimo, Astral Projection, Talamasca, Sphongle, Bluetech, Ott, Felix, John “00” Fleming to name a few.

Goth Legend Steve Severin of Siouxie & Banshees fame will be at the West End Cultural Centre (586 Ellice Ave) 7:00pm - 11:00pm doing a Live Film score for Jean Cocteau’s 1930’s silent film Blood of A Poet (Le sang d'un poète).
Doors 7:15 pm | Show 8:00 pm

Tickets are $12 in advance/ $15 at the door and available at The West End, Ticketmaster, Music Trader and The Folk Festival Music Store. To buy tickets online: http://www.ticketmaster.ca/event/110044BB9F019F44?artistid=40322&majorcatid=10001&minorcatid=60 In his live Winnipeg solo debut, Steven Severin (bassist for Siouxsie and the Banshees) will perform a moody new score he composed for renowned French artist Jean Cocteau's controversial silent avant-garde film from the 1930's.

A key member of the Bromley Contingent, which captivated the culture and fashion scene of 1970’s England; Steven Severin formed Siouxsie and the Banshees with Siouxsie Sioux in 1976 and established themselves as one of the foremost alternative art music groups in London. Since their breakup in 1995, Severin has applied himself to numerous solo projects including the composition and performance of several film scores such as for the thriller London Voodoo and for a six-part PBS documentary by Niall Ferguson titled The Ascent of Money. The film score for Blood Of A Poet is Steve Severin's latest composition. The film was Cocteau’s first and brought all his diverse talents into focus. Like another Surrealist classic, L’Âge d’or by Luis Buñuel, Blood of a Poet was financed by the Vicomte de Noailles, a famous patron of the arts. There are many scandals that surrounded this film because of its controversial content which subsequently delayed its release. Common comparisons to L'Âge d'or would only anger Buñuel and his fellow Surrealists, who belittled Cocteau as a "literary poseur". Nevertheless, Cocteau remained true to his artistic vision and created films unlike the norm; thus, retaining a lasting place in cinematic history. Steve Severin: http://www.stevenseverin.com/

Friday, July 23rd

TROLLOCAUST PRODUCTIONS PRESENTS: NOCTURNAL DIVINITY and DEAD ROMANTIC (Thunder Bay) @ the Royal Albert Arms (48 Albert Street) 9:00pm
The evening also features Willow (from Winkler, MB), Stand Alone Complex, and live DJ sets by DJ Raytch Aytch. Admission is $10. Doors @ 9:00, Bands @ 10:00

Nocturnal Divinity

(Finally!) back from an extended hiatus, NOCTURNAL DIVINITY hit the stage once again, bringing their dark, passionate music to the Royal Albert Arms. Word is, they have some new tunes they've been working on throughout their time off which will blow away those found on the debut album 'Somewhere in Sorrow'.
DEAD ROMANTIC come a-touring from Thunder Bay. Expect eardrums to be ruptured from some industrial thrash metal right from the playbooks of Ministry, Slayer and KMFDM. Featuring ex-members of Jordana Divinorum Ryan "Suicide" Hughes (guitar) and Scott Hobbs (keyboards & programming) these guys and gal are ready to shred some beats. Yes, you read that right.
A new force emerges from southern Manitoba.... WILLOW, a dual female singer and male screamer-fronted melodic death metal band, play their first Winnipeg show.
Soaring, harmonious guitars meld with thundering drums and the dual fury and beauty of the two vocalists. This is a new band on the scene you DO NOT want to miss!
Mike Lewis... what's to say of the man - the machine? This guy churns out music like Toyota churns out car recalls - though I'd side with Lewis regarding superior
products. Currently active in Soul Killing Female performing everything on-album and handling bass and vocals live; sometimes guesting in XVI Eyes for songs - or
entire sets - as drummer; previously active as hired gun or full time member in bands unnumbered; he is also THE force behind STAND ALONE COMPLEX, a classical-leaning,
one man industrial project. Swirling in robes of depression and anxiety, the music is moving, thought-provoking and haunting.
DJ RAYTCH AYTCH is the woman behind such nights as Cryptic Chaos at Monty's Bar One (R.I.P.), Dark Kore at The Lo Pub/Ozzys, and currently FUTURSTATE at Pure Event Centre. She is gracing the Royal Albert Arms for this night, spinning some awesome EBM/industrial sets between the live music sets for our aural pleasure. Tasty.

He is particularly interested in contrasting the way fear was used in historical Asian fables to develop moral character modern Western society where fear is used to further political and economic interests.

The exhibition is comprised of two parts. The main features large scale narrative drawings in the style of traditional Asian scrolls with content inspired by neo-conservative propaganda, Asian ghost stories and accounts of supernatural experiences from his family members. AWESOME show at The Zoo (Osborne Village Inn - 160 Osborne St.)!!!! Check It: Left Spine Down is on tour again celebrating
the release of their new remix album, this time joining forces with Winnipeg's own Nocturnal Divinity. Also joining them will be Forget Me Knots (Vancouver) and The Rabid Whole (Regina) for a night of mayhem under one roof. This is going to be a very exciting night for all of us for many reasons, so we're hoping that all of our friends, old and new, will be able to join us for this very special event.
LEFT SPINE DOWN:
Based in Vancouver, Canada, LEFT SPINE DOWN (also known by the acronym LSD) plays a brand of music called Cyberpunk that fuses the sounds of Industrial,
Metal, Punk and Electronica. The band features Jeremy Inkel of Industrial music legends FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY & NOISE UNIT and also Denyss McKnight the
former bass player of Vancouver punk heavyweights THE BLACK HALOS. The band has no shortage of firepower both on stage and in the studio.
FORGET ME KNOTS:
Forget Me Knots is instantly reminiscent of early industrial rock, at times heavy and dark as "Nuclear Sky" to the night and day of "Wake Up" and the slow descent into "Retrograde". Once you hear the hauntingly melodic guitar riffs blended over the surge of industrial sounds, Forget Me Knots, as their name suggests, are not easily forgotten...
THE RABID WHOLE:
Hailing from Regina SK, Canada, comes The Rabid Whole. Creating a hybrid of electronic, rock and industrial sounds and armed with a cutting-edge live performance, the band is ready to unleash its arsenal on audiences around the globe.
Tickets for $8.00/each. Doors open at 9pm and admission without ticket will be $10.00/each. Photo ID is required for this event.
Keep watching for additional information.
BONUS!!!! We announce that the show on March 21st will be Nocturnal Divinity's long awaited CD release extravaganza! On top of that, they'll be playing some brand new songs live for the first time ever!
This is going to be a crazy night with tons of energy, so lets pack the place and keep the party going all night long!
Tickets are available at the Osborne Village Inn!!!

Strong on Plow.18+, ID Required. Winnipeg Psychedelic Productions and Red Star/Blue Star presents an evening of psy and techno featuring not one but TWO out of town headliners!!!
Featuring:CHAKRA KAHN (Techno - Saskatoon)This past 15 years, musically, has been a journey to find the inner of Chakra Khan, family roots, heritage, and culture merging into a finished product of Canadian work. DJing Techno for almost a decade (as DJ Chakra Khan) set the base and starting point to use electronic music combined with everything else (including real time instruments, vocals, collaborations, etc) to lead the way to a new persona as Quadrant Khan. Playing guitar since 12 and working in various projects and bands he moved from that to Electronic music when introduced to the PPM Club/Movement in '95. It was this that introduced him to a whole new world of sound, feeling, and expression. WAV OCCUPATION (Psy - Edmonton)Jordan Smoliak and Ryan MacDonald have been DJing Psychedelic Trance since 2001 and are two of the pioneering members of the Techno Hippy Crew. A Motion Notion and Astral Harvest headliner, these two have also opened for acts such as Shadow FX, Sensient, Infected Mushroom, Nystagmus, Nokturnal and Chris Organix. Jordan and Ryan play a variety of psychedelic beats which range from rare and dark progressive to funky full-on. WAV Occupation's dynamic and provocative psychedelic sounds should continue to promote spiritual dendrite growth into the next wave of human avevolution. Cinematheque - 100 Arthur St. The Winnipeg Film Group presents BLOODY TALES FROM THE FILM GROUP BASEMENT
Starting at 9pm, it includes the short films:
PURGATORY by Éric Falardeau - an atmospheric picture about self-hating, through graphic automutilations, of a man facing his own purgatory.
MASTER OF THE DARK By Nelson Santos - When Gasket discovers an old book of evil in the glove box of a 1940's Oldsmobile it awakens the spirit of an evil soul that kills anyone for disturbing his slumber.
RED MEN RISING By Cindy Murdoch - After toxic wastes is carelessly dumped into the river, it flows down stream and finds its way into the ground of "Northern Pines Communist Graveyard", disturbing the dead and causing them to re-animate and rip free of their graves.
PARASITE by David Zellis - Jock Van Rysell's sanity is literally flushed down the toilet when he is stalked by a male patient of his.
INSANOPHENIA by Steven Kostanski - Two dim-witted exterminators are about to find there are more disturbing things than the sexual advances of their maniacal supervisor as they descend into a nightmarish world of indescribable terror.

Friday, April 11 & Saturday, April 12, 2008 - 11:30pm at Cinematheque:

NIGHT OF THE COMETDir. Thom Eberhardt USA 1984 - Horror/Sci-Fi DAWN OF THE DEAD meets VALLEY GIRL in the ultimate '80s teenage APOCALYPSE! The people of all nations gather to witness the passing of a majestic comet through the night sky. One hour later, humanity has been reduced to red calcium dust...with the exception of Hollywood High School sisters Reggie and Samantha. The few other survivors are flesh-eating wasteoids or merciless subterranean researchers scrambling for live test subjects. This leaves our heroines with an important question: can they machine-gun enough rotting cannibals and government goons to make it to the mall? Because when the world has ended, the latest fashions are free! Zombies, disorder and violence served up frantic, savage and TOTALLY rad.

Friday, April 25 & Saturday, April 26, 2008 - 11:30pm at Cinematheque:

DEVIL FETUS Dir. Hung Chuen Lau - Horror Sometimes two simple words, like "true" and "love", can combine to create a spellbinding, lyrical beauty that transcends mere language and touches the human heart. Such is the case with DEVIL FETUS!! A blazing bedlamathon that had no right to ever be made, this cinematic felony is fortified with enough unrepentant wildness to challenge the fortitude of even the most stalwart exploitationeer. Incestuous transvestitism, multiple beheadings, featherweight bestiality, white-knuckle black magic showdowns and hardline electrofunk-powered rumpshaking are among the delights unearthed when a woman has consensual relations with the swamp beast that lives in a vase she bought at the swap meet. Gird your loins for an epic whirlwind of lust, gore and animal cruelty in this 200-ton barrel of lowbrow DYNAMITE! Could this be the most offensive Hong Kong movie of the 80s? YES!

The Fritz Lang Classic, METROPOLIS, will be playing at the Cinematheque (304-100 Arthur Street) with a Live Score by Random Interference. The ghost of Fritz Lang has beckoned Random Interference to musically interpret LIVE his immortal work "Metropolis" using all manner of analog and digital at it's disposal. The evening will open with a Random Interference and Difficult Viewing production Cartoon short from "Tormented Toons". Random Interference is currently comprised of four individuals and works with the following instruments:
1. Jay Taylor - Long time professional musician working with a plethora of acoustic instruments (notably bass guitar)and co-founder of the notorious 1990's psychedelic rock band "Disappearing floor". Taylor orchestrates and weaves a tapestry of mixed live instrumentation.
2. Murray Toews - Deluxe-media artist, animator and audio-artistToews has been lured by the seductive imagery of Lang. Using random voice alteration and carefully constructed audio loops derived from massive city interiors- the dimension of METROPOLIS can then be realized.
3. Zlatan Banicevic - A.K.A. "DJ EVIL BASTARD" and an authority (more or less I suppose) on all things Goth and cyberpunk - Banicevic brings a stark, cold metallic sound that acts as audio support girders using state-of-the-art keyboards forged from his former iron curtain homeland ('yeah whatever').
Doors open at 7pm, tickets are $12 General admission and $10 for Students and Seniors.
RE has been rehearsing its ass off to a VHS copy, and, Murray, it's gonna either kill us or make us gods.

She Wants Revenge performs also at The Pyramid Cabaret. From what I've heard, they're pretty good. Haven't listened to any of their music yet. According to the info on ticketmaster (tix not yet available as I enter this) "She Wants Revenge is comprised of Justin Warfield and Adam 12, two Los Angeles DJs with the stated musical goal to "make girls dance and cry." Their dark yet dance-able sound harkens back to '80s Manchester, and their 2006 self-titled debut album released on Geffen Records is rife with hooky melodies and melancholy wit".
